  • Protecting Infrastructure from Increased Cyber Attacks

    EPA and other federal agencies are reporting on cyber attacks on state and local critical infrastructure. EPA estimates that 26 million people have critical or high-risk vulnerabilities in their water systems, most managed by local governments. This discussion will highlight the types of attacks on which systems, and what the governments are doing to stop groups, such as Volt Typhoon, from gaining access to the critical systems.

    As concern increases about AI's ability to create false images of individuals and their surroundings, local governments will need to protect their identity management systems to ensure that information is not compromised. Hear from state and local government officials about what they have experienced and how they are protecting systems for the future. Some examples include AI enhanced phishing attacks, credential stuffing, deepfake videos asking for sensitive information, and AI-powered password checking.
