Steps agencies can take to stay ahead of ever-sophisticated cyber threats
According to a 2024 Government Accountability Office report, email phishing is still the most common attack vector for agencies, followed by website or web-based application attacks. Agencies also face rising threats from ransomware and software and API vulnerabilities, resulting in a constant stream of new challenges. Michael Riemer of Ivanti notes that in the past two years, countries such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea have increased the scale and sophistication of their cyberattacks, aiming to infiltrate federal systems and steal sensitive information.
