Prior to joining Salesforce, Joe Paiva was a CIO and senior executive at multiple commercial companies and federal agencies including the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and the US Department of Defense.

During his final government role serving as CIO of the Chief Information Officer of the US International Trade Administration (ITA), he helped spearhead efforts to exponentially increase ITA's customer base by making use of commercial best practices and technologies while simultaneously serving as a senior officer in the United States Army Cyber Warfare Command.
