As a proven leader and technologist with over twenty years of experience in information technology, Marlon Shears has been helping K-12 education entities grow their technological capabilities with keen insight and creative ideas. He is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Fort Worth ISD and is responsible for strategic alignment and governance, assessing internal technological capabilities. He assesses all technology initiatives to derive the most relevant projects for completion.

Marlon got his start with an online warehouse business out of college. He obtained great experience of the relentless pace of online sales and need to have 24x7 business operations. He then moved into the educational space in 2001, with Los Angeles Unified School District.
 He started as an assistant software engineer working on client server technologies and continued with the organization for the next eighteen years in various positions until achieving enterprise architect, he was responsible for all software innovations and project reviews.
After Los Angeles Unified School District, Marlon was recruited to Dallas ISD as Enterprise Architect. He spent six months in that role before becoming Deputy CTO over all technology operations. He spent almost three years at Dallas ISD, before moving to Fort Worth ISD where he currently serves as the CIO.
