System Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) are system configuration guidelines provided by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) that are commonly used in the federal and DoD space to meet system compliance requirements when it comes to system configuration. This effort can be extraordinarily complex and time-consuming for the people that are responsible for executing this work. Not only must each system component be configured to meet the requirements, but you must also report the compliance status of your system using standardized reporting tools provided by DISA. As systems evolve over time, the configuration of each system component must stay in compliance and system owners must be able to report on the compliance posture of their system at any time. This creates an incredible burden for teams that are on the front lines dealing with this every day.
Kinney Group is working to change the paradigm with the Atlas platform. By leveraging our years of industry expertise and enterprise-grade tools that have been used for many years in the federal space, the Atlas platform can provide a multi-faceted solution that will address these challenges head-on. Atlas tackles both the system configuration challenge with automation using Puppet and the compliance reporting challenge with Splunk. Atlas’ STIG compliance offering brings a purpose-built multi-faceted solution to the market that is designed to directly go after this problem and radically reduce the time spent on basic system configuration and reporting to meet STIG compliance. Atlas subscribers will have access to thoroughly tested and validated STIG remediation content and a reporting capability that will bring all of your STIG compliance artifacts together to provide a comprehensive real-time view of the system. By integrating these two capabilities, Atlas subscribers can automate a significant number of tasks and be able to report on system’s compliance posture at any time.
